Easter Edition!

Happy Easter everyone!

We hope you all had a good Easter holiday. Ours was an uneventful one to say the least.  Poor Phil has had a difficult weekend as he developed, on Wednesday night a bacteria infection in his ear that caused his ear to swell up the size of... well picture below will tell it all. He spent every morning all weekend plus Monday and Tuesday in the emergency room receiving IV antibiotics. I will not bore you with the inefficiencies and inadequacies or our health care system, but lets just say that there is at least fifteen hours of life we would like back PLUS the whole day Saturday that we needed to wait around the house for his IV fluids to be distributed to him at our home for him to then take with him to the hospital (huh? Yeah, that what I said).  His ear is now only half the size larger than the other one and he is actually feeling really good. Many of you may not know that Phil has had on and off battles with colds and stuff since coming back from Ethiopia and we never felt like he got quite well enough. He says he feels as good as before going so that is a good sign.  Five days of IV antibioitics kills alot of things!

Kids are good, Ezra is "using his words" amazingly well, it is like a little light has gone off and all of a sudden he realizes that when he speaks, people listen. The Speech Pathologist is happy with the progress so far and so are we, except when he uses the word no, which is quite frequently. Apparently two-year olds don't think the word yes is cool.

Maya is doing well, another trip to the doctor though. The girl is growing, is happy for the most part, but man she is a snorty little girl. Congestion, four weeks going. The doctor has recommended a week of puffers to see if it can help get the mucous under control. At this point we have agreed that it is the best thing. Because she had RSV when she is four weeks old she is at risk to develping pneumonia so we need to work on getting her congestion down. She is due for her four month appointment in a couple of weeks so we will reassess then.  Check out the pictures below, Maya has all of a sudden realized she has a big brother, a big brother that she thinks is pretty cool. Always a smile on her face when he around... until he gets a little too close and then its crying... sounds like the start of a beautiful sibling relationship to me!

Have a great week everyone!
