This week was just one of those weeks that I can look back and say, well we made it! Maya was sick this week, started out as a cold, but became much more of a trouble breathing thing. She went to the Doctor on Friday and with a little steroid and some puffers, she is a little bit better. I was also sick this week which made things just a little bit harder...
Ezra was on the mend and full of energy! The weather was beautiful and we managed to get out there. He had two great days at day care and was playing really well with others and on his own. As ou'll see from the pics below, he has discovered a new use for the unused ritz crackers and the spray bottle we use for his hair. We also had a chance to visit his special friend Deborah this week. Deborah was born in the same city as Ezra in Ethiopia and they were born five days apart! They have such a great time when they are together. Mamma's were too busy chatting to get pictures this time though, but it was great! A few new words this week and his conversation babble is really coming along.
Phil is doing well, busy with work and his new role, but is liking it. Honestly the weeks just fly by! This Monday Phil has to go to Kentucky for the day, a long day- 4am until midnight. So, its just me and the kids. Hoping for good weather and thankful that we still have some frezer meals!
I don't know why, but I have had a couple of off days this week. I can't stop thinking about the Trayvon Martin and how sad it is for this child's family and how wrong it is that we live in a world that this still happens. These issues are very real for our family, for our son. One day (in the not so distant future, did I mention time flies?) my son is going to be walking down the street by himself. Maybe he's wearing a hoodie, maybe not and people may or may not look at him differently because of the color of his skin. I could pray that people will stop judging others based on their race or the color of their skin. It would be a lofty request. In the meantime, we need to work on making sure that we prepare our son for the realities of our world.
Have a great week everyone!
Love, Leah, Phil, Ezra, and Maya
